A Question of Good and Evil: Air Travel
On our upcoming Air Canada flight my seat they say will be 18 inches wide (45.72 cm). The seats in my hatchback subcompact Honda Fit are 21 inches wide (53.34 cm), the Fit's glove compartment is 18 inches wide! If Honda or Toyota built passenger aircraft more than the Little Three would be in trouble…look out Boeing and Airbus!
Now I recognize my sanity could be in question as I am flying the ill reputed Air Canada but alas it was the only flight traveling at the proper time to the correct destination for my vacation so regrettably what is one to do?
That being said who wants to be doomed to nightmare service, torturous seats, lost luggage, delayed or cancelled flights, overbooking and frill charges for seat belts…well not yet but just wait!
The quandary is we love to travel…but those long haul flights are torture! Now once again I recognize that indeed I have “volunteered” for this flight and have actually paid to undergo this agony and I know that this is not as bad as some tragic accident but…

Airplane horror stories? Where to begin. I could write numerous stories.
Let's pick one: I was off to a family gathering in Nebraska, but sick to the point that every bit of sinus space was filled with fluid. We took one of those propeller planes from Denver to Grand Island, and the cabin pressure went out a few miles out of the airport. The feeling was of a thousand needles penetrating my face as the sudden pressure differential caused all of the liquids to be slowly extruded through the nooks and crannies of my nasal system - some of which were newly made by the process. We turned around and returned to Denver only to be told someone left a cover open. All this was after massive delays, so that we finally arrived at our destination late in the night totally exhausted - and missed the wonderful party. What a day!
Ads? Not sure which airline to pick. When you have flown enough, ads are treated with a bit of skepticism.
Prayer? "Pray without ceasing" - 1 Thessalonians 5:17
Have you ever suffered through a long haul flight? Definition: suffering on a long haul flight involves 10 hours or more of flying time, at least two toddlers, and a missed, canceled or massively delayed connection. Yes, multiple times.
Best Airline? Singapore
Worst Airline? Garuda
Do you like the Bee Gees? They represent the end of music and the transition to today's post-music culture.
Favorite Destination? Home.
Air travel good or evil? Depends on my mood.

Lol,those videos kill me, I'm afraid a plane may one day do the same,lol. I am claustrophobic, and I am terrified of flying.
My very first flight on a plane was from Saskatoon to Toronto, as we were coming in for a landing we went through a thunder storm and dropped about a million feet, scared the s---t out of me.

OOoooohh what an awful experience! And to top it off you miss out on the event you are traveling for! You know I can only imagine this kind of experience…It made me think of how bad it must have also been for all those people recently trapped in Thailand…

Great prayer verse….the comfort God can provide thru prayer is unfathomable…I have often found that people will talk about spiritual matters while traveling on aircraft…I have actually had the opportunity to be there right on the plane when people I have met became followers of Jesus…if you are willing to trust a pilot you have never met nor seen with your life and all those involved in the flying process then how about trusting God….
I hear you on that kind of suffering on a long haul flight…I will add having to convince them to let you on the plane you have a ticket for plus an assigned seat but they overbooked by 50 people all of whom showed up and are in the same situation…
Singapore has an excellent reputation and I have friends just like you that say they are excellent….Garuda Indonesian….thanks for the tip…My fave is Olympic Airlines (Greek) on the inter island flights…wow great service and wonderful vistas…plus I have to say WestJet which is a Canadian airline….excellent service….the worst would have to be…Air Canada…

I love traveling, I love the rush of the aircraft taking off and landing but long haul flights…the good, the bad, and the ugly….

LOL Air Canada did by ALL reports an awful job here at YVR during our snow disaster but WestJet is said by ALL as to have been exemplary actually helping many abandoned Air Canada passengers with rooms etc….No I am not on the payroll…

- 2005 flight to Singapore 30 hrs
- 2006 flight to Japan 24 hrs - 4 hrs on the air plane on the ground just due to some engine problems
What is the worst thing that has happened to you on a flight or at an airport?
- Everytime going on the trip, not once there was no plane issues - usually mechanical

- can't you see they are for men only, lol, so my answer no to both

- don't get me going, lol, showing off external beauty, so I say service probably sucks

I don't remember the name, but it was Japanese air line, boy it was nice and clean. Don't like air canada very much, now they charge for blankets $2, probably someone used it before me too, lol

- Yes I am, but once I am out there, I am okay.

- Yes during emergency evacuation presentation, sometimes I pray for the perchute, lol
