The Beauty of Words

Photobucket

While exploring, wandering and wondering at the geography, topography and demography of paragraphs, sentences and yes those dynamic individual written words the heart can be enchanted, the mind can be enhanced and the soul can be encouraged into action…

These encounters can be frequent and their tide can ebb and flow in our lives. However there are some words whose blessing carries continuously over many years…the words become our friends and family members, extensions of us, indeed part of our very being…

The first time I read the following many years ago I must have reread it dozens of times and thousands since soaking in its majesty, sublime beauty and shocking revelation that began the ascent into recognizing the poverty of the soul of self and the infinite wealth of the Other…today I still soak up these words in awe…

Now when he saw the crowds, he went up on a mountainside and sat down. His disciples came to him, and he began to teach them saying:
"Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
 Blessed are those who mourn,
      for they will be comforted.
 Blessed are the meek,
for they will inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness,
      for they will be filled.
 Blessed are the merciful,
for they will be shown mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart,
      for they will see God.
 Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they will be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

These words of Jesus reign supreme as He launches into His Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5-7) expositing the Law declaring the inescapable conclusion that one cannot earn their way to God leaving simply receiving His grace as the only alternative…it is the only way to be perfect…and we must be perfect…cloaked, painted and purchased in the perfection of the One and Only Messiah Jesus…

Blessed meaning happy, fortunate and blissful is gifted to those who humbly receive that they are barren in sufficiency in regards to living a life pleasing to God, we must mourn our sinful thoughts words and actions, we must keep the power of our lives under control (this is meekness), thus we must recognize our unrighteousness and yearn for peace with God and His Kingdom…we are to despair our sinfulness and have hope in the perfect love of Jesus…

These words are a puzzle to those that are looking for a list of do’s and don’ts in pleasing God…the blessings are not a shopping list of self help religion…the opposite is intended…a realization that you cannot help yourself…you need Jesus…

These are beautiful words to those willing to receive them but to those who reject the words of the Giver they are words that are searched for loopholes…there are none…I love these words for many reasons prime among them is that they can lead us to the Kingdom of Heaven now…These words are not the beauty of a harlot, supposed righteousness purchased by coin of religion but the extreme poverty of religion except in directing us towards the great escape of the grace of Jesus…He is our reward in Heaven…

Hey LSus,

Congratulations for what you have done with this beautiful theme.
Jesus' words, philosophy, is extremely profound and applicable to so many:

""Blessed are the poor in spirit"...and if their is the kingdom of Heavens then Heaven will be packed with them (like a beach in summer in China).

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." - indeed...they will reincarnate over and over again until they learn.

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." - HA...so rare!

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." - even knowing that the reward is/will be great sometimes one just feels like reminding people of the consequences of their stupid plots and actions and the resulting repercussions...ah, humans, humans *nodding*...

Now, Jesus is not the one and only Messiah (although it would be much easier if he were)...re-read Isaiah, Jeremiah...

LS, very beautiful production (although I felt like I was reading a re-run of your past thoughts [we have had n discussions about Jesus and the Messiah and etc]), I enjoyed it very much :D.

Cheerio...

LS, I have wondered if Jesus gave that sermon once, or if it was a sermon he gave many times in different places to different people ...

Certainly Jesus is the Word.

Hey Maximus!

Coming to you LIVE from Portland Oregon!

""Blessed are the poor in spirit"...and if their is the kingdom of Heavens then Heaven will be packed with them (like a beach in summer in China).”

- The stumbling block for many is pride of spirit...people lack humility of spirit, one must recognize that they are a beggar in desperate debt and Jesus offers to redeem them from their debt...I don’t know about spending time on a beach in China ;)

"Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth." - indeed...they will reincarnate over and over again until they learn.”

- There is no reincarnation:
Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,
- - Hebrews 9:27

"Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God." - HA...so rare!”

- This passage is of immeasurable depth...the subject here is holiness...and holiness cannot be attained by human striving only by God transforming the person...people have to stop trying to justify themselves and receive Jesus as their justification...He is the One with the pure heart and when we see Him we see God...if a person wants holiness they must humbly come to Jesus at the foot of His cross..

"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you." - even knowing that the reward is/will be great sometimes one just feels like reminding people of the consequences of their stupid plots and actions and the resulting repercussions...ah, humans, humans *nodding*...”

- *nodding* it is amazing how Jesus makes this promise in His own Name...

“Now, Jesus is not the one and only Messiah (although it would be much easier if he were)...re-read Isaiah, Jeremiah...”

- Interestingly I just finished Isaiah and it is one long shepherds staff aiming us to Jesus alone...

“LS, very beautiful production (although I felt like I was reading a re-run of your past thoughts [we have had n discussions about Jesus and the Messiah and etc]), I enjoyed it very much :D.”

- LOL Thanks...well it was not a setup :) I have been camping on this passage for awhile...the scope and scale of Jesus’ words is profound, it is all Him saying “you want the Law? Here is the Law” and we hang ourselves on it, without Him we cannot keep the Law...

I shall be beaming over to your place shortly to see what you have created!

Hi Looney,

Coming to you LIVE from Portland Oregon!

You are not alone in wondering if this was a onetime sermon, an amalgamation, a telescoping, one of many variances...this example in Matthew grips my soul every time! Particularly when He concludes demanding or perfection as our Father in Heaven is perfect...

The beauty is we can be perfect...certainly not practically but instead positionally as we are found in relationship with Jesus, His perfection overshadows our imperfections...

It is interesting how people can read this sermon and miss the point. We can’t be good enough so surrender to the love and grace of Jesus...

Jesus is the Word! Amen...

Hey Maximus!

"Coming to you LIVE from Portland Oregon!"

:D I hope you are having loads of fun, man!!

"- The stumbling block for many is pride of spirit...people lack humility of spirit, one must recognize that they are a beggar in desperate debt and Jesus offers to redeem them from their debt...I don’t know about spending time on a beach in China ;)"

I agree that people lack humility of spirit and that they should recognise it (which would show their grandness of spirit). However, you know what I think about Jesus (that amazing master) being the only solution...
However, God (Hashem) can do wonders in one's life...when He decides to touch one's heart, my Lord, there are no words to describe the level of transformation. One must seek Him first, though (best example of democracy).

"- There is no reincarnation: Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment, - - Hebrews 9:27"

Men's words bear no authority in this subject. And Jesus (yes, I believe in his special condition) never denied it...au contraire...

"- This passage is of immeasurable depth...the subject here is holiness...and holiness cannot be attained by human striving only by God transforming the person...people have to stop trying to justify themselves and receive Jesus as their justification...He is the One with the pure heart and when we see Him we see God...if a person wants holiness they must humbly come to Jesus at the foot of His cross.."

Jesus is not people's justification...Jesus is one of the ways to get to the Truth (he is the first part of God's Plan).
Why would a person want holiness? Incarnating means not to seek holiness; it means to learn how to face hell while keeping a certain purity of the soul (not easy). Holiness is to be kept at Home.

"- *nodding* it is amazing how Jesus makes this promise in His own Name..."

And yet people in His own name kill, disdain others, despise their brothers, spit on human fellows, enslaved people etc etc...
Yeshua's teachings were profound (except some of his provocations lol) and many who call themselves Christian do not follow what he taught.

"- Interestingly I just finished Isaiah and it is one long shepherds staff aiming us to Jesus alone..."

Reading Isaiah with preconceived dogmae is not the same as Reading Isaiah...like I said: re-read Isaiah and Jeremiah.

"- LOL Thanks...well it was not a setup :) I have been camping on this passage for awhile...the scope and scale of Jesus’ words is profound, it is all Him saying “you want the Law? Here is the Law” and we hang ourselves on it, without Him we cannot keep the Law..."

You are welcome! LOL LOL oh I know you would never set me up LOL :)....
Oh, one can keep the Law...even without Yeshua. And we have those who think they keep the Law with Yeshua, but they don't...they can't. So many cling on Jesus but bear not God in their hearts...

"I shall be beaming over to your place shortly to see what you have created!"

:D it was a true pleasure to have you there...Klingon LOL...you kill me!
