We bastardize worship when we betray the One True God for porn of the soul. When we turn our backs on Him and worship anyone or anything else, it is then that we are whores or gigolos selling sex flesh, porn for the soul.
Just as we are made for a monogamous sexual union with the opposite gender we are meant to have monogamous worship of the One True God. As an individual person we come to God but humans can be nasty and adulterous. Betrayal is in our blood and we sell ourselves to ideas and ideals, religion and materialism, we spray our worship philandering and prostituting.
Titillated by the latest vamp or gadget, massaged by speed or kink, suburbia or the urbane…Our eyes hopping from one to the next, heart pounding, mouth salivating…empty…
When we worship any other so called god we worship an un-god, a false god that is worthless worship…sin worship…cosmic civil war worship…we are the evil and God is the good…we the porn star of the soul, lose to the One Who created the stars of the heavens…
Why would God be pleased if we worship other than Him? God alone is worthy of worship not cars, orgasms, touchdowns, fame or fortune, self or family, entertainment or education, fake un-gods, fraud un-gods, con-artist un-gods…when we worship any other than the One True God we turn into hookers ready to bed any for a price…or simply for lust…

What else can I say that I haven't said already about this sort of thought?
I agree that we are to worship and serve God alone. But again, there is only One God.
I think we must understand what do you mean by "god", before making any further comment on the possible belief system(s) that believe in deities.
God said that He is the God of gods. This would mean that He admits the existence of other gods...who are those gods and what should they be revered?
Now, let's touch a more delicate issue; you asked "Why would God be pleased if we worship other than Him?" indeed...why would He? But then why do you worship Jesus (His servant, a man)? Just because Christ was created the way he was it doesn't mean that he is God, it only means that he is God's Child, created to serve Him better than any human for he would not detract from his special mission, and he'd understand, in utter perfection (although even he was invaded by doubt), his destiny (something a human wouldn't because of its sense of "injustice").

Interesting point about Jesus, Scripture explains that He is God, indeed He is not created but the Creator:
