Black Lolita
Pretty in Pink Lolita fervent in youthful delight red sun rising
Wedding in White Lolita walking down the aisle red sun risen
Powerful in Purple Lolita standing in model dignity red sun descending
Serenity in Blue Lolita laying in wisdom and loyalty red sun setting
Mourning in Black Lolita respects days past anticipates red sun rising
Breathless as dusk turns to dawn we pray for the new day….

At my age I better be very careful about what I say here lest I be thought of as a dirty old man! I personally think that Lolita is a highly over rated book which went viral because of reviews by reviewers who did not understand Nobokov! Most readers eventually will confide that they didn't quite get what all the fuss was about. Pink, white, purple or black, that is about it.
Very interesting…I did not anticipate insights on Nobokov’s Lolita…I completely agree with you about that novel.
Intriguing to compare it to The Lover by Marguerite Duras (which I found was a superior book):

In my own mind I had directed this article more at the current situation in Japan but you took this in an unanticipated direction which was very thoughtful…
Hey LS,
Lolita...it does seem to have a bad connotation, doesn't it? If a woman (or rather a young woman) is over-sexual (whatever that means) it is immediately called a Lolita.
Now, the young lady on the image does not seem a Lolita at all, but I love her shoes (she looks more gothic than anything else).
Interesting choice of colours...Pink is never pretty; wedding in white is true in our culture (in India and China red would be the colour of choice); purple and power is correct (if we think of royalty); blue and serenity is also correct (since blue is a cold colour); black and mourning don't always match (in many cultures white and mourning are the match).
We pray for a new day indeed...
God help Japan!
Cheers
Hey Madam Maximus…
LOL Yes over-sexual is an interesting thought, when does something become obsessive compulsive?
They are snazzy shoes; she even seems to pull off the hat although it does seem to make her appear more diminutive…nice hair…
I think I shall post some Goth for contrast…
“Pink is never pretty” pink hater LOL
“Wedding in white is true in our culture (in India and China red would be the colour of choice)” True although white is becoming more popular among those of Indian ancestry here in Vancouver…
“Purple and power is correct (if we think of royalty)” Purple is an interesting combo of blue and red…
“Blue and serenity is also correct (since blue is a cold colour)” I also like tropical blue waters…warm…
“Black and mourning don't always match (in many cultures white and mourning are the match)” Black is also a nice default colour…
“Gad help Japan!” Indeed :(
Hey Lord LSus,
"LOL Yes over-sexual is an interesting thought, when does something become obsessive compulsive?"
It becomes obsessive compulsive when a person isn't able to be without sex for 10 hours; when not having sex for a day becomes either a psychological or a marital problem; when not having sex all the time makes a person feel empty and lonely...now that is a disease.
"They are snazzy shoes; she even seems to pull off the hat although it does seem to make her appear more diminutive…nice hair…"
Indeed. It is the hair in combo with the hat that makes her look small.
"I think I shall post some Goth for contrast…"
Please do...
«“Pink is never pretty” pink hater LOL»
LOL I am; I admit.
«“Wedding in white is true in our culture (in India and China red would be the colour of choice)” True although white is becoming more popular among those of Indian ancestry here in Vancouver…»
Perhaps they are trying to fit in your society...
«“Purple and power is correct (if we think of royalty)” Purple is an interesting combo of blue and red…»
Blue means wisdom (in general terms) and red means passion, fury...factors that comprise power, I suppose.
«“Blue and serenity is also correct (since blue is a cold colour)” I also like tropical blue waters…warm…»
LOL LOL...
«“Black and mourning don't always match (in many cultures white and mourning are the match)” Black is also a nice default colour…»
Tell me about it: it is my fave colour.
«“Gad help Japan!” Indeed :( »
Oh My God, LS didn't copy and paste (for the first time)! How apocalyptic: perhaps the second coming is about to occur LOL *nodding*...
Seriously, it broke my heart to see the Tsunami sweeping away the crops, towns, boats etc...it was sad, man :(.
